Background

Since the 1990s, computer use at work has become widespread and prevalent in Korea due to huge PC supplies, nationwide network infrastructure and remarkable development of information technology. Against this background, the executive and judicial branches of government actively pushed for the introduction and development of the information system to increase work efficiency. The Constitutional Court of Korea has also fully applied information technology to its work and continuously expanded its public information service on the website, thus facilitating works related to court procedures and improving the Court’s public image.

Goal

The Constitutional Court establishes master plans and action plans for informatization every year and implements them to ensure prompt and transparent constitutional proceedings and convenient participation of the public. The goals of informatization are: to deliver “smart electronic court service” through automation of court procedures; to promote “trustworthy image of the Court” through its website and international IT cooperation; to realize “efficient digital administration”; and to bring about a “safe and secure Constitutional Court” that protects important data and materials.
