President's Greeting

Welcome Message

President Yoo Namseok

Welcome to the website of the Constitutional Court of Korea.

Since its foundation in 1988, the Constitutional Court of

Korea has been committed to protect freedom and equality

in Korea, and promote democracy and the rule of law in our

society. Today, the Court remains devoted to the love and

trust of the people and seeks to serve their hopes through

right and just constitutional decisions.

Over the years, the Constitutional Court of Korea has

witnessed remarkable change in our society. Our country

has displayed surprising economic growth, and also flourished

in its cultural influence. Throughout this development,

we have also strived to accomplish substantive democracy,

and establish the rule of law. The Constitutional Court of

Korea endeavored to support this progress by giving life to

our Constitution, which we recognize as an expression of

the people’s will and aspirations.

Now we are facing new challenges at an urgency

that was never before imagined. The rapid development of information technology and artificial intelligence are changing our society at an extraordinary pace, increasingly lower birth rates and a quickly aging population have changed the landscape of our demographics, and rising income inequality as well as environmental problems are posing serious issues to the sustainability of our growth.

By thoroughly examining the constitutional issues related to the new challenges in this new era, the Court will continue its endeavors to sustain the progress our people have fostered so far. The Court will provide sound decisions based on substantive and objective reasoning, and give every effort to fulfill its role as a guide towards the future. The Court is committed to promote social integration by creating an open culture where people can resolve public matters within a forum of rational discussion.

This website provides a variety of information related to our Court, including pending cases and prior decisions. It also facilitates constitutional complaint procedures via electronic filing and delivery through the e-Court service. We believe that this website can serve as an efficient channel for the cooperation between the people and the Court to realize the values of our Constitution.

The Constitutional Court of Korea has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Looking ahead, the Court seeks to continue to build history with the people through constitutional adjudication. The Court remains focused in its mission to promote human dignity, freedom and equality in people’s lives. We look forward to your unwavering support and encouragement.

Thank you
