    Sept. 1988 The Constitutional Court Act takes effect, and the Constitutional Court is established.
    Sept. 1988 The 1st President Cho Kyu-Kwang takes office.
    Jan. 1989 The Court delivers its first unconstitutionality ruling, striking down the proviso of Article 6 Section 1 of the Act on Special Cases concerning Expedition, etc. of Legal Proceedings granting the state's immunity from provisional execution. (88Hun-Ka7)

    Jun. 1993 Completion ceremony of the new Courthouse in Jae-dong
    Jun. 1993 The Court building is relocated to a new Courthouse.
    Sept. 1994 The 2nd President Kim Yong-Joon takes office.
    Oct. 1996 Pre-inspection by the Public Performance Ethics Committee provided under Article 12 of the former Motion Picture Act ruled unconstitutional (93Hun-Ka13)
    Jul. 1997 Prohibition of marriage between same surname, same origin couples under Article 809 Section 1 of the Civil Act ruled incompatible with the Constitution (95Hun-Ka6 et al.)
    Sept. 1998 The Court marks its 10th anniversary and opens its website.
    Dec. 1999 The system granting extra points to veterans ruled unconstitutional (98Hun-Ma363)

    Sept. 2000 The 3rd President Yun Young-Chul takes office.
    Jul. 2001 The lavatories at police detention facilities lacking sufficient cover for users ruled unconstitutional (2000Hun-Ma546)
